    Description

    The City and Guilds 2346-03 qualification is for electricians who have been working in the industry, as a practicing electricians, for at least 5 years (not including time spent in full or part-time training) but have not formally completed an industry apprenticeship or equivalent Level 3 NVQ qualification.

    You do not require to be employed to enable you to complete the experienced worker route although you do no need to be working in the industry. 

    The Experienced worker route is demonstrating technical knowledge, performance, and competence to the Electrical industry standards at Level 3. The Experienced worker route is an assessment of job knowledge as specified within each unit of the qualification and evidence from the workplace that demonstrates competence against the performance criteria within each unit of the qualification.

    This is an on-site performance-based evidence portfolio and is candidate-driven.

    Minimum duration – 3months / Maximum duration (Centre devised) – 12months 

     

    Who is this suited for?

    • experienced operatives who are/have been working in the electrical industry as practicing electricians for a minimum of 5 years
    • those who wish to have their competencies recognised and work toward an ECS Gold Card
    • those who wish to develop their career.

    Prerequisites

    The qualification is not suitable for new entrants to the electrical industry, apprentices, or those who have completed an electrotechnical qualification with less than five years of relevant industry experience. It is a requirement that prior to undertaking this qualification, learners must have their suitability assessed by the completion of the qualification’s pre-entry skills scan. Learners MUST possess the knowledge and understanding comparable to the Level 3 Electrotechnical apprenticeship qualification which can be evidenced by relevant electrotechnical qualifications. Where learners do not hold the relevant qualifications, their eligibility will be probed through the skills scan to verify if they have the correct level of knowledge and understanding. This MUST occur prior to registering the learner on this qualification.

    You must be aged 19 or over to apply for this course, however, it is expected due to the five-year industry experience requirements learners will be significantly older.

    Evidence of 5 years or more in the Electrical Industry this could be via previous qualifications, payslips, employment contract.

     

    Complete a skills scan to evidence existing knowledge in the electrical industry – Highlight if suitable for the scheme or if there are gaps in candidates’ electrical knowledge.

     

    Candidates must hold or obtain during 2346-03 (Experienced Worker Route)
