The 2391-52 Inspection and Testing course (Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing) course is designed to enable candidates to understand principles practices and legislation for initial verification and periodic inspection of electrical installations with statutory and non-statutory regulations and requirements. This course replaces the previous 2394/95 and aligns with the industry qualification for inspection and testing wiring systems BS7671.

The 2391-52 Inspection and Testing course is currently required in order to gain your ECS Card graded as an approved Electrician.

Our 2391-52 Inspection and Testing course (Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing) is for candidates who are required to obtain the knowledge and certification to enable them to periodically inspect and test and initial verification new electrical installation systems.

What is the course?

The 2391-52 Inspection and Testing course (Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing) training will provide you with all the specific methods of inspection and testing of installation, we combine theory and practical skills within our training along with a detailed breakdown on how to complete certification and reports. Throughout the course, you will reference to guidance note 3.

There are 5 learning outcomes that will be covered in the delivery of your training to ensure you feel you have sufficient and competent knowledge when completing your training course. Below is a breakdown of all areas covered throughout the training:

  • Safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations
  • Requirements for initial verification of electrical installations
  • Requirements for completing the inspection of electrical installations before their being placed into service
  • Requirements for the safe testing and commissioning of electrical installations
  • Requirements for testing before circuits are energized
  • Requirements for testing energized installations
  • Requirements for the completion of electrical installation certificates and associated documentation
  • Safety of systems and equipment before completion of inspection and testing & commissioning
  • Inspection of electrical installations before them being placed into service
  • Commissioning electrotechnical systems and equipment
  • Requirements for inspecting, testing, and recording the condition of electrical installations
  • Requirements for completing the periodic inspection of electrical installations
  • The differences between periodic inspections and initial verifications
  • Requirements for the safe testing of electrical installations which have been placed in service
  • Understand and interpret test results
  • Requirements for the completion of electrical installation condition reports and associated documentation
  • How to confirm safety of the system and equipment before completion of inspection, testing, and commissioning
  • How to inspect electrical installations before them being placed into service
  • How to test electrical installations before them being placed into service
  • How to produce a condition report by recording observations and classifications

The 2391-52 Inspection and Testing course (Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing) training is delivered over 5 days.

Assessments:

At the end of your course, you will complete a 60 questions online multiple-choice exam which is open book and is 120 minutes Our team can support you with any exam requirements and adjustments you may have (evidence may be required)

You will also undertake a written assignment (80 minutes) comprising of 4 short answer questions.

In addition, you will also need to successfully complete a 2.5-hour practical assessment comprising of a full initial verification and periodic inspection of a 3-phased electrical installation and complete all appropriate documentation.  

Who is the 2391-52 Inspection and Testing Course for?

The 2391-52 Inspection and Testing course (Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing) course is for practicing electricians who are currently working within the Electrical Industry and are experienced installers. All candidates must be over 18 years old.
