The City and Guilds 2346-03 is for experienced electricians with five years of industry experience who lack a formal apprenticeship or Level 3 NVQ qualification.
Experienced Worker Route (2346-03)
3 – 12 Months
Our Experienced Worker Route is designed for candidates who have been working as practicing electricians in the electrical industry for at least 5 years but currently lack the qualifications required to join electrician certification schemes or approved contractor schemes in the UK, such as the NICEIC, NAPIT or the ECS check system.
The Experienced Worker Route demonstrates technical knowledge, performance, and competence to meet Level 3 standards in the electrical industry. It assesses job knowledge specified within each qualification unit and requires evidence from the workplace to demonstrate competence against the performance criteria within each qualification.
The Experienced Worker Route is intended for electricians who have worked in the industry as practising electricians for at least five years (excluding time spent in whole or part-time training) but have not formally completed an industry apprenticeship or equivalent Level 3 NVQ qualification. Candidates are not required to be employed to complete the Experienced Worker Route.
Before completing the Experienced Worker Route, you need to complete some pre-approval checks with our centre to ensure you meet the eligibility requirements.
- You must be able to provide evidence of your working career in the Electrical industry. This can achieved by confirming that you have been practicing as an electrician in the industry for 5+ years. Acceptable evidence includes CIS Statements, payslips, contracts, and approved contractor status renewals (request the full list).
- Completion of a skills scan to ensure you can meet the working range requirements to be eligible for the experienced worker route.
- If you Currently hold a 2391-52 Inspection and Testing certification or equivalent and a BS7671 2nd amendment 18th edition or the most current regulations – If you do not currently hold these, our friendly team will assist you in booking the required dates.
You will be provided with our centres bespoke online assessment pack and allocated a dedicated assessor to support you throughout your Experienced Worker Route. Your assessor will be your direct point of contact and will ensure the evidence you have submitted meets the criteria. Additionally, your assessor will conduct 2 site visits while you're completing the Experienced Worker Route.
The evidence is gathered through several assessment methods, such as job reports, reflective accounts, photographic evidence, risk assessments, method statements, and other criteria typically used during daily electrical work on-site.
